PESHAWAR, (TDI): The two-week-long Russia-Pakistan Joint Counter Terrorism Exercise Druzhba-VII concluded on Friday with a closing ceremony at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Military officials from both countries praised the exercise as a successful showcase of tactical skills and inter-military collaboration.
The exercise, which began on October 13, involved special forces from the Pakistan Army alongside a contingent of 54 Russian troops.
They engaged in various training drills and counter-terrorism techniques, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Lieutenant General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Inspector General of Training & Evaluation, was the chief guest at the ceremony, while Russian Ambassador Albert P. Khorev also attended.
ISPR stated that “the troops displayed the highest standards of professionalism,” highlighting that the collaboration was key to refining tactical procedures.

As the seventh bilateral exercise of its kind, Druzhba-VII aimed to enhance skills and share expertise in counter-terrorism efforts.
An official statement emphasized that “this joint training strengthens our historic ties and reinforces our shared commitment to combating terrorism.”
The troops displayed the highest standards of professionalism during the exercise, which aimed at refining drills, procedures, and techniques, while also harnessing the historic military-to-military relations between the friendly countries.

The exercise showcased the evolving military relationship between Pakistan and Russia, providing both nations with an opportunity to benefit from each other’s specialized experience in counter-terror operations.
It concluded with a display of advanced tactical drills, demonstrating the skills and coordination developed over the fortnight.
