Islamabad (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan has categorically rejected the recent allegations by India claiming that Pakistan attempted to attack the Golden Temple in Amritsar during heightened tensions between the two countries.
The baseless accusations come amid India’s unproven claims linking Pakistan to the Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir last month.
In a strongly worded statement on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan denounced the Indian claims as “false and irresponsible.”

He emphasized that Pakistan holds all places of worship in the highest regard and would never consider targeting a religious site, let alone the revered Golden Temple, which holds deep spiritual significance for the Sikh community.
“We categorically reject the allegations that Pakistan attempted to target the Golden Temple,” Khan stated. “Pakistan is the proud custodian of numerous Sikh holy sites and annually hosts thousands of Sikh pilgrims from around the world.
“The Kartarpur Corridor, which allows visa-free access to Gurdwara Sahib Kartarpur, is a testament to our respect and commitment to the Sikh faith” he further added.
The Indian army, as reported by The Hindu, had claimed on Monday that a plot to target the Golden Temple was thwarted and that defensive measures were deployed to protect the site from supposed Pakistani drone and missile threats.

However, no credible evidence has been presented to support these assertions.
The FO spokesperson also drew attention to recent attacks on places of worship within Pakistan on May 6-7, allegedly by Indian forces, noting that these serious violations must not be overlooked or deflected through unsubstantiated counterclaims.
Furthermore, Pakistan dismissed Indian media reports alleging the use of nuclear-capable Shaheen missiles. “These reports were later deleted, indicating that even the Indian side recognized the falsity of their claims,” Khan added.
He said these fabricated narratives appear to be part of New Delhi’s broader attempt to distort facts, malign Pakistan’s image, and mislead the international community regarding the recent ceasefire and Pakistan’s defensive posture.
