Pakistan Ready to Welcome UAE Investment in Energy, AI: PM

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said that the country stands ready to welcome investment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in sectors ranging from renewable energy to artificial intelligence, fintech, agriculture, and minerals.

He was speaking at a ceremony celebrating the 54th National Day of the United Arab Emirates in Islamabad. Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, and other government officials were also present.

“Economic partnership of Pakistan and UAE is a shining example. UAE is lending critical support to Pakistan’s stabilizing economy,” the PM said.

UAE’s ambassador to Pakistan, Salem Al Bawab Al Zaabi, said that his country is committed to ties with Pakistan in diverse fields including economy, energy, and artificial intelligence; remarking that both countries share a vision for regional peace and development.

“We see tremendous potential for collaboration in renewable energy, artificial intelligence, sustainability and economic diversification,” the ambassador said.

Prime Minister Sharif extended felicitations to the leadership of the UAE and recalled his early memories associated with the Gulf country. He also noted the contributions of Pakistani nationals in UAE’s nation building as well as economic boom.

He recalled the UAE as a “land that believed in possibilities long before these became realities.” “Witnessing the UAE’s remarkable journey as it attains new heights of progress fills all of us with profound admiration.”

The Prime Minister added that Pakistan feels proud of the partnership it shares with the Emirates, which is built on the solid foundation of 1.8 million Pakistanis who consider the UAE as their second home.

Both the UAE ambassador and the Pakistani Prime Minister shared wishes for enduring peace in the region and greater prosperity. PM Sharif and DPM/FM Dar also joined the ambassador in a formal cake cutting to mark the occasion.

UAE’s national day is celebrated each year on 2nd December. In a greeting message earlier on the day, the Pakistani PM highlighted the deep-rooted ties between Pakistan and the UAE, built on historical goodwill, shared cultural and religious values, and mutual trust.
