Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister reaffirmed the enduring “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” with China during a courtesy call by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s House, on Friday.

Welcoming the envoy, the Prime Minister highlighted the historic and time-tested friendship between Islamabad and Beijing, describing it as an “ironclad” bond rooted in mutual respect and unwavering support.

PM Shehbaz Sharif expressed appreciation for China’s consistent and steadfast support to Pakistan across economic, security, and development domains.

He particularly lauded the transformative role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), describing it as a flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative and a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation.

Emphasizing the need to accelerate ongoing CPEC projects, the Prime Minister called for enhanced collaboration in priority sectors including agriculture, information technology, and mining and minerals.

He noted that expanding cooperation in these areas would unlock new avenues for economic growth, technological advancement, and sustainable development in Pakistan.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to safeguarding Chinese interests, the Prime Minister assured Ambassador Jiang that Pakistan would continue to provide a secure and conducive environment for Chinese personnel, investments, and institutions operating in the country.

He underscored that ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals remains a top priority for the government. Ambassador Jiang Zaidong briefed the Prime Minister on recent developments in bilateral relations and conveyed warm greetings from the Chinese leadership.

He reaffirmed China’s firm support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and socio-economic development, reiterating Beijing’s commitment to further strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the two nations.

Both sides exchanged views on key regional and international issues of mutual interest, agreeing to maintain close coordination and consultation at bilateral and multilateral levels.

They emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond.
