Osaka (TDI): The country pavilion of Pakistan turned into a showcase of culture and everything green on the country’s 78th Independence Day. There were special performances lined up to mark the day.
The pavilion has attracted over a million visitors till now, as 160 countries from around the world are taking part in this year’s expo.
The general theme of the Pakistan pavilion is “The Universe in a Grain of Salt” which has been curated by Noorjehan Bilgrami. The theme puts Pakistan’s pink salt at the center of everything that the pavilion displays.

The theme for the expo this year is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives” and it is spread over the Yumeshima Island of Osaka.
Pakistan’s Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM), Haroon Akhtar, was at the Expo for 14 August celebrations. A flag raising ceremony on the morning of Thursday kicked off the day’s special celebrations.
Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hisayuki Fujii, was also present at the flag raising, and even delivered a part of his remarks in Urdu.
Speaking at the occasion, SAPM Akhtar said, “We are eager to host more Japanese tourists and deepening people-to-people exchaÂnges betwÂeen our two countries.”

Later on, exclusive performers from the Pakistan Council of Arts (PNCA) graced the pavilion with cultural dances, outstanding among which was “Taxila Odyssey” in which performers shed light on the ancient city and its Buddhist heritage.
The purpose of the Osaka Expo is to promote innovation and cross-border collaboration by displaying national progress in culture, technology, and sustainable development.
Pakistan is taking the opportunity to not just showcase its cultural heritage but also investment opportunities and industrial potential.
