Pak Navy Participates in Maritime Conference of Combined Maritime Forces

Bahrain (TDI): Pakistan Navy participated in the Annual Maritime Security Conference of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF), organized from May 12-14, 2025.

Commander Combined Task Force 151,, Cdre Sohail Ahmed Azmie, represented the Pakistan Navy at the Conference.

CMF is a naval partnership of 46 countries, all of which were represented by their respective naval officials. China and Russia are not the member countries of this naval partnership.

Noteworthy members include the United States, Australia, UK, France, Germany, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, India, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, UAE, and Pakistan.

During his opening remarks, Vice Adm. George Wikoff, Commander of CMF, told participants what makes the organization special is the breadth of nations that make up its membership, providing a unique opportunity to conduct maritime security operations alongside many navies.

During the conference, attendees reviewed initiatives and accomplishments over the previous 12 months, discussed strategy for the coming years, and coordinated CMF Coalition Task Force plans for enhancing regional maritime security and partnerships in the future.

CMF includes five combined task forces (CTFs) that focus on counter-narcotics, counter-smuggling, suppressing piracy, maritime security enhancement training, encouraging regional cooperation and working with other partners to strengthen maritime capabilities.

Pakistan leads one of the task forces of CMF, the CTF 151, which helps to patrol the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor. Recently, Pakistan-led CTF 151 concluded a Coordinated Patrol “Enduring Resolve” and a Counter-Piracy Focused Operation “SEA SPIRIT.”
