Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, hosted Abdul Raheem Abdulla, Speaker of the People’s Majlis of Maldives, at the Parliament House.
Welcoming the Maldivian delegation, Speaker Sadiq highlighted the historical, religious, and cultural bonds between Pakistan and the Maldives.
He emphasized that parliamentary diplomacy serves as a crucial platform for promoting regional peace, stability, and development, especially in South Asia.
During the meeting, the two sides held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral relations, regional dynamics, and global challenges.
Both leaders underscored the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts and building strong parliamentary linkages through platforms such as the Pak-Maldives Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Speaker Ayaz Sadiq also addressed pressing regional issues, particularly the ongoing conflicts in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

He stressed that a just and peaceful resolution of these disputes is essential for lasting peace in the region.
Condemning Israeli aggression and Indian atrocities in Kashmir, he called for a united response from the Muslim Ummah to safeguard the rights of oppressed peoples.
He also praised the resilience of the Kashmiri people and highlighted Pakistan’s recent diplomatic and defense successes as a testament to national unity.
The Speaker further emphasized Pakistan’s vast trade potential and advocated for increased regional cooperation through the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
In his remarks, Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla expressed gratitude for the warm reception and commended Pakistan’s principled and consistent stance on global issues, particularly Palestine and Kashmir.
He described Pakistan-Maldives relations as brotherly, grounded in mutual respect and shared values, and expressed optimism that stronger parliamentary engagement would reinforce the enduring friendship between the two nations.
