Islamabad, 1 May 2023 (TDI): On Monday, the 2nd meeting of the Pak-Kazakhstan Alumni Forum was held, which was attended by several senior academics and over 70 alumni from various universities in Kazakhstan.
The President of the Forum, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator of General COMSTECH, welcomed the participants warmly, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Kistafin, graced the meeting as a guest of honor.
Prof. Choudhary, D. Sc. (Alfarabi Kazakh National University), stated that the Pak-Kazakhstan alumni forum aims to remain connected to their alma mater in Kazakhstan and to further cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education, cultural exchanges, and technological transfer.
He praised the excellent education that alumni received from the Government and people of Kazakhstan, which is comparable to any European or North American education system.
He proposed organizing skill development events like workshops, conferences, and training courses both at technical and professional levels at Kazakhstan House and that the Embassy of Kazakhstan with COMSTECH help in the mobility of the alumni to Kazakhstan for skill development courses and organize joint education expos in Islamabad, Pakistan.

Ambassador Kistafin welcomed the participants of the 2nd meeting and emphasized that education is an area that can help to develop and strengthen the ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
He informed that in 2021, Kazakhstan had received around 400 applications from Pakistan for higher education, and last year, 1500 applications were received from Pakistan. Kistafin stated that direct flights from Pakistan to Kazakhstan will be launched in June 2023, which will boost cooperation between the countries.
He thanked Prof. Choudhary for his incredible efforts in organizing the event and Prof. Dr. Atia-tul-Wahab for her support.
Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Chairperson of the Punjab Higher Education Commission, said that the Pak-Kazakh alumni forum will play an important role in promoting educational and cultural relations between the two countries.
He also noted that we are currently standing on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution, and to solve new social and political problems, technological and economic models will have to be adopted.
