Pakistan, Jordan Sign Four MoUs in Culture, Media and Education

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Jordan have signed four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at strengthening cooperation in culture, education, and media.

The agreements were exchanged during a ceremony in Islamabad, witnessed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Jordan’s King Abdullah II, who is on an official visit to Pakistan.

The first MoU establishes a comprehensive Program for Cultural Cooperation between the two countries, designed to enhance cultural exchanges, promote artistic collaboration, and deepen mutual understanding at the people-to-people level.

Another key agreement sets up Urdu and Pakistan Studies chairs at the University of Jordan, marking a significant step toward academic partnership and creating avenues for Jordanian students to study Pakistan’s language, history, and culture more formally.

Two separate media cooperation agreements were also signed. One covers collaboration between Pakistan Television Corporation and Jordan Radio and Television Corporation, while the other formalizes cooperation between Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and Jordan’s state broadcaster.

These agreements are expected to support content sharing, joint productions, training programs, and overall capacity building between the public media institutions of both nations.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with ministers Attaullah Tarar and Dr. Musadik Malik, represented Pakistan during the signing. Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi exchanged the documents on behalf of his government.

Alongside the MoU ceremony, the two leaders engaged in broader discussions on strengthening bilateral ties. Talks covered economic and trade cooperation, investment opportunities, healthcare, science and technology, education, and defense collaboration.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability and reiterated a shared position against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza.

The signing ceremony, held at the Prime Minister House, was followed by a banquet in honor of King Abdullah II. Senior civil and military officials attended, underscoring the importance Pakistan places on its relationship with Jordan.

Officials from both countries described the agreements as a step toward deepening an already friendly partnership, with particular emphasis on building long-term cultural and educational linkages.

The visit and the new agreements are expected to inject fresh momentum into Pakistan-Jordan relations, opening pathways for enhanced cooperation not only at the governmental level but also between academic institutions and media organizations.
