Tehran (TDI): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi called on his Iranian counterpart Eskandar Momeni in Tehran on Wednesday where both sides made several important decisions to help pilgrims and improve border cooperation.
The two ministers agreed that the Pakistan-Iran border will remain open round the clock during Muharram and Arbaeen to facilitate religious pilgrims.
The Iranian government will also provide accommodation and meals in Mashhad for five thousand Pakistani pilgrims.
To solve problems quickly, a hotline will be set up between the two nations. A special trilateral meeting involving Pakistan, Iran, and Iraq will be held in Mashhad ahead of Arbaeen to coordinate improved arrangements for pilgrims.

Both ministers also agreed to increase the number of flights for pilgrims and discussed sending pilgrims by sea.
They also talked about working jointly to stop illegal immigration, human trafficking, and drug smuggling.
Improving border security and collaboration between the two nations also came under discussion.

Mohsin Naqvi expressed gratitude to the Iranian government for its support of Pakistani pilgrims and assured full cooperation on the release of Iranian fishermen who had mistakenly crossed into Pakistani waters.
Senior officials from both sides were present at the meeting.
