Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, said on Sunday that something conclusive on the Gaza issue is likely to come out of the meeting between the Muslim leaders and Trump.
“Consultations with Arab and Islamic countries led by US President Donald Trump will produce encouraging results on the Gaza issue,” he was quoted saying.
The meeting that took place on Tuesday in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, was attended by leaders of Turkiye, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arab, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt.
Trump presented Muslims leaders with a 21-point peace plan and put his bet on the Muslim world for a ceasefire in Gaza.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, who was also in the meeting, said that meetings continued after the Tuesday round of talks; hinting consultations among the Muslim leaders.
Today, Monday, Trump is meeting Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu as the latter visit the United States. In a Truth Social post on Sunday, Trump said “All are on board for something special, first time ever.”

“We have a real chance for Greatness in the Middle East… We will get it done,” Trump wrote.
Talking to Fox news, Netanyahu also brought up the 21-point peace plan. Earlier, addressing the UN through a video link, President of the Palestinian Authority, Mehmoud Abbas, said that they will accept a UN-backed ceasefire plan for Gaza.
Although Hamas said that it has not been contacted with any new peace proposal since talks stalled following Israel’s attack on Hamas’ negotiating team in Doha.
On ground in Gaza, Israel’s ground offensive is forcibly displacing Palestinians since September 16, in addition to killing innocent civilians every day.
Medics are not able to reach injured people asking for help as Israel’s military operation is brutally targeting Palestinians.
The 21-point peace plan, only parts of which have been publicly shared by the US, includes release of hostages, permanent ceasefire, Israel’s withdrawal from Gaza, and no role for Hamas after the withdrawal.
