Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on Saturday, declared that Hamas’ conditional acceptance of Trump’s Gaza peace plan opens a door for ceasefire in Gaza.
He also pledged Islamabad’s support for a lasting resolution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
Sharif’s remarks came in response to Trump’s order for Israel to halt its bombardment of Gaza, following Hamas’ statement that it was willing to accept certain conditions laid out in the plan.
According to the plan, Hamas would surrender power, disarm, and release the remaining hostages within three days.
Alhamdolillah, we are closer to a ceasefire than we have been since this genocide was launched on the Palestinian people. Pakistan has always stood by the Palestinian people and shall always do so.
Gratitude is due to President Trump, as well as to leaderships of Qatar, Saudia…

In return, Israel would cease its offensive, withdraw from Gaza, release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and allow a flow of humanitarian aid and reconstruction.
Sharif, posting on X, said that Hamas statement “creates a window for a ceasefire and ensuring peace that we must not allow to close again.”
“… we are closer to a ceasefire than we have been since this genocide was launched on the Palestinian people,” he wrote.
He also expressed gratitude to Trump and the leadership of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, and Indonesia for their engagement in efforts to resolve the conflict.
Though encouraging statements have emerged from all sides, momentum toward a ceasefire remains fragile.

Hamas leadership has emphasized that significant disagreements still exist and broader Palestinian consultations are needed.
Pakistan, for its part, has consistently championed a two‑state solution, condemned Israeli occupation, and provided rhetorical backing for Palestinian self-determination at international fora.
Since the Hamas statement surfaced, Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister has held back-to-back telephonic conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
DPM/FM Dar, in a post on X, welcomes the statement by Hamas, and said, “This must now result in an immediate ceasefire,… Israel MUST immediately stop its attacks.”
