Baghdad (TDI): Pakistan Embassy in Iraq opened a Camp Office in Hotel Burj ul Murtaza, Karbala, from 7 to 11 Muharram 1447 AH to facilitate and provide necessary consular services to the Pakistani zaireen who came to the city on Ashura.Â
The Camp Office is fully functioning and providing services including emergency travel documents, basic first aid, and assistance during emergencies.
Ambassador Muhammad Zeeshan Ahmed has been assigned to the Camp Office to manage its operation and make sure that Pakistani pilgrims get timely and effective assistance.

The Office Camp is a part of the Embassy’s long-standing tradition of opening these temporary consular service offices during Ashura and Arba’een, when a significant number of pilgrims travel to Iraq from Pakistan.
There are consular officers, volunteers who can speak Arabic and Urdu, and medical personnel at the Camp Office to assist pilgrims. Emergency helplines and WhatsApp support are also available to maintain contact with pilgrims and to respond immediately if any issue arises.
To keep the public informed and updated, the embassy also posted information and images from the Camp Office through X.

During their visit, Pilgrims are advised to have valid identification, stay within designated corridors, and report any consular, medical, or logistical problems to the Camp Office. Safety bulletins and contact numbers have been widely circulated through official channels and social media.
The initiative of the Embassy is a good example of the developing cooperation between Pakistan and Iraq in the field of religious tourism and the delivery of public services. Both governments are in contact to enhance the volume and security of pilgrims, while local Iraqi authorities continue to assist with visa facilitation, security, and transport arrangements during the time of Muharram.
The Embassy continues to provide a respectful, secure, and spiritually rewarding visit for all Pakistani zaireen to Karbala in Muharram.
