Beijing (TDI): Pakistan and China have underscored the importance of their long-standing friendship, describing it as “vital” for peace, stability and prosperity in the region, as foreign ministers of both countries met in Beijing for the seventh round of Strategic Dialogue.
Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar travelled to China at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to co-chair the annual meeting, which brings together top diplomats to review cooperation between the two countries.
This year’s annual dialogue coincided with the year-long celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Both countries have planned special events for 2026 in this backdrop.

Dar and Wang Yi also jointly unveiled the logo for the 75th anniversary, which was cited as the official launch of year-long celebrations to honor the historic ties.
Following the strategic dialogue, the Pakistani Foreign Office said that Dar and Wang Yi emphasized the strength of the “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” and reaffirmed commitment to deepen ties at bilateral and multilateral levels.
They agreed to enhance coordination on issues of mutual interest and to work closely on regional and global challenges.
The talks also covered key areas, including the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), trade, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation in international forums, underscoring the broad nature of the relationship.

The dialogue builds on the sixth round held in Islamabad last August, when Chinese officials also reaffirmed their commitment to working with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development, and stability.
During his visit, Dar also met other Chinese officials, including the Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and the minister-in-charge of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, with discussions focusing on strengthening diplomatic cooperation and exchanges between political parties.
The leaders highlighted the symbolic and practical importance of marking 75 years of diplomatic ties, noting that the milestone will be used to chart a forward-looking vision for even closer collaboration in years ahead.
