Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and China have taken another step to deepen their security cooperation by conducting a joint counterterrorism exercise, highlighting the two countries shared commitment to maintaining regional stability and combating extremism.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that the Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) are conducting the joint exercise, named Warrior-IX.
The joint exercise, running from November 28 to December 14 at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi, aims to boost operational coordination and interoperability between the Pakistan Army and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The Warrior-IX exercise highlights the strong defense partnership between Pakistan and China and reinforces their shared commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability.
Over the two-week period, troops are engaging in advanced counterterrorism drills to sharpen tactical expertise, improve joint operational readiness, and strengthen collaboration between the two forces.

The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who served as the Chief Guest, alongside senior Chinese officials. The Chief of General Staff of the Pakistan Army joined as the Guest of Honor.
During the ceremony, the visiting dignitaries were briefed on the exercise’s objectives, scope, and activities, and observed a range of counterterrorism drills, commending the professionalism, coordination, and high morale of the troops from both countries.
As strategic partners, Pakistan and China maintain close collaboration in defense matters, with Beijing serving as Islamabad’s main arms supplier.
During the May conflict with India, Chinese-built J-10CE fighter jets demonstrated exceptional performance, reportedly downing at least six Indian Air Force aircraft and reinforcing Pakistan’s air superiority.
In recent years, the two nations have conducted multiple joint military drills, including last year’s Warrior-VIII drills, involving both naval and air forces to enhance interoperability, intelligence-sharing initiatives, and training programs, reflecting the strength and depth of their bilateral ties.
These exercises are one element of the broader Pakistan China strategic partnership, encompassing economic, diplomatic, and defense collaboration.
