Dubai (TDI): Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai, Hussain Muhammad, on Monday underscored the importance of sending remittances to the country through formal and legal banking channels.

He said that using regulated financial systems not only strengthens Pakistan’s economy but also safeguards the hard-earned income of overseas workers.

The consul general was addressing an Iftar dinner and community engagement event held at Al Ghurair Workers Camp in Sonapur, Dubai. The event was organized by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) and Al Ansari Exchange, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Pakistan.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness among the Pakistani community about the benefits of formal remittance channels, acknowledge their vital contributions to Pakistan’s economy, and share Iftar with workers during the holy month of Ramadan.

He extended Ramadan greetings and assured the community that the consulate remains fully accessible to assist members of the diaspora in the Northern Emirates.

Rashid-ul-Islam, Business Lead at NBP, highlighted the growing importance of overseas remittances to Pakistan’s economy, noting that the United Arab Emirates currently ranks as the second-largest source of remittances to Pakistan globally.
