Pakistan Bids for UNHRC Seat with Cultural Showcase in Geneva

Geneva (TDI):  Along with its formal launch for the bid for the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2026-2028, Pakistan also hosted a vibrant cultural exhibition at Palais des Nations, the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.

In a statement released by the Pakistani Mission in Geneva on X, it wrote:  “All of them represent Pakistani hospitality, an open arm for dialogue and a way towards establishing cooperation and friendship. In the Human Rights Council, Pakistan will continue to hold on to these values, not just in words but in deeds.”

The Geneva-based Human Rights Council is the main organ of the UN to promote and protect all human rights across the world. It is composed of 47 Member States elected by the UN General Assembly for three years in a staggered manner.

Pakistan has been a member of the Council on multiple occasions in the past and is now again seeking re-election to the new term beginning in 2026.

Apart from the launch of the campaign, Pakistan also exchanged cultural tokens with its diplomatic allies at the Human Rights Council. The tokens symbolized the country’s rich culture and hospitality.
