Islamabad (TDI): The Ambassador of South Korea, Park Kijun, paid a farewell call on Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch marking the end of his diplomatic tenure as Ambassador to Pakistan from South Korea, on Wednesday.
According to the Pakistan Foreign Office official statement, “The Foreign Secretary appreciated Ambassador Park’s efforts in strengthening bilateral ties and expressed hope for continued progress in Pakistan-Korea relations. Additional Secretary Siddiqui also commended the Ambassador’s contribution, expressing confidence that his successor will build on this positive momentum”.
Imran Ahmad Siddique who is Additional Secretary (Asia and Pacific) also hosted a farewell lunch for Ambassador Park Kijun.

“Ambassador Park deeply appreciated the cooperation and support extended by the Government of Pakistan during his tenure. He also expressed hope that, based on Pakistan’s vast potential and the friendly relationship built over the past 42 years, the two countries will continue to establish a complementary and mutually beneficial partnership,” the Korean Embassy wrote on Facebook.
Ambassador Park Kijun played a significant role in strengthening and deepening bilateral ties between the two countries.
He also hosted K-POP events at Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) and Korea-Pakistan cultural nights reflecting on the country’s cultural diplomacy.
Moreover he also led the Korea Meets Young Pakistan (KMYP) where he lectured students at NUML on “Discovering Korea and Shaping the Future of Korea-Pakistan Ties”
Pakistan and South Korea officially established their diplomatic relations in 1983 and since then both countries have enhanced bilateral relations across diverse domains which includes trade, education, culture and technology.
On August 3, 2023 Ambassador Park presented his credentials to the President of Pakistan at Aiwan-e-Sadr marking the start of his diplomatic journey in Pakistan.
