Opera Singing Courses Now Open at PNCA

Islamabad (TDI): The Embassy of Romania and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) have officially inaugurated opera singing courses, with a formal launch ceremony.

The opening ceremony included music performances by young Pakistani vocalists, violin players and guitarists.

These unique canto courses, conducted by renowned Romanian soprano, Georgiana Costea-Glugă, commenced earlier on April 9, 2025, and are held twice a week.

The initiative is aimed at introducing Pakistani students to the rich tradition of Romanian opera and fostering cross-cultural artistic exchange.

The courses are open to aspiring vocalists of all experience levels. Whether a beginner or an opera enthusiast, participants will find an enriching and immersive learning environment.

Opera is a classical art form that merges vocal excellence with theatrical storytelling. Under the mentorship of Costea-Glugă, participants will gain exposure to the core principles of operatic performance, including vocal technique, stage presence, and musical interpretation.

The event was graced by the presence of Dan Stoenescu, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan, Farah Naz Akbar, Member of the National Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, and participating students of the first course.

Addressing the participants, the Romanian Ambassador said, “Romania has a deep and proud tradition of classical music and opera, and we are delighted to share this rich cultural heritage with the talented and aspiring musicians of Pakistan. Through the universal language of music, we hope to build bridges between our cultures, encourage artistic collaboration, and foster mutual understanding.”
