Riyadh (TDI): Oman’s Foreign Minister met with his Saudi counterpart on Wednesday to discuss the escalating crisis in Yemen, highlighting the two nations shared commitment to easing tensions and seeking a peaceful political solution in the war-torn country, the Omani Foreign Ministry said.
The talks between Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud focused on the latest developments in Yemen and their impact on regional security and stability.
Both sides agreed on the importance of containing the escalation of violence and advancing a sustainable political solution that respects Yemen’s sovereignty and stability, according to the official statement.
The meeting comes amid renewed strain in the region after a recent Saudi led airstrike on Yemen’s southern port city of Mukalla, part of an intensifying conflict involving rival factions and foreign actors.

In the Riyadh meeting, both ministers emphasized the need to support Yemen’s political process, address the root causes of the conflict, and prevent further destabilization across the Gulf region. The discussions also highlighted broader concerns about regional security.
The ministers reviewed ongoing initiatives to ease tensions and discussed ways to strengthen Yemen’s political process, to achieve a lasting settlement that ensures the country’s security and stability.

The UAE rejected these claims, emphasizing that it had not directed any military actions against Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed its full respect for the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
The Emirati Defense Ministry also confirmed that it had concluded its military presence in Yemen, a decision made independently by the UAE.
Leaders from Gulf states, including Bahrain, Qatar, and Kuwait, have echoed calls for calm and constructive engagement as Gulf powers work to mitigate fresh escalations stemming from clashes between Saudi led forces and southern separatist groups.
