Geneva (TDI): Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, speaking on behalf of the OIC at the ILO session, called for decisive global action to address the humanitarian and economic crisis faced by Palestinian workers in the Occupied Arab Territories (OAT).

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) group at the 353rd Session of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Governing Body commended the ILO’s efforts to tackle the dire conditions of Palestinian workers.
Minister Hussain stressed the need for immediate action to rebuild infrastructure, restore economic resilience, and protect workers’ rights.
Highlighting systematic movement restrictions, economic blockades, and discriminatory labor policies, the OIC Group called for expanded emergency employment programs, strengthened labor institutions, and accelerated reconstruction efforts in Gaza.

They emphasized the disproportionate impact on women and vulnerable groups, urging global support to address inequalities and restore decent work opportunities.
Hussain also urged the ILO and international community to intensify efforts for Lebanon’s recovery.
He welcomed Lebanon’s new government and called for coordinated action to rebuild infrastructure, address labor shortages, and restore economic stability.
The OIC Group reaffirmed its unwavering support for Lebanon’s recovery plan, urging ILO member states to enhance contributions and work closely with Lebanon’s government and social partners.
Minister Hussain’s statement underscored the interconnectedness of peace, justice, and economic recovery in Palestine and Lebanon.
He called for collective global efforts to ensure lasting stability and prosperity in the region.
Dr. Bilal Ahmed, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, and other officials were also present at the session.
