OIC-COMSTECH Hails KSA’s 2034 FIFA WC Hosting

Islamabad (TDI): Professor Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhary, the Coordinator General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH), has felicitated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on its historic achievement of winning the hosting rights for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.

“We extend felicitations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and the people of Saudi Arabia for this remarkable achievement,” the organization said in a statement.

It pledged full support in facilitating technological and scientific advancements that could help in the planning and execution of the mega event.

The OIC-COMSTECH stated that the kingdom will fully avail this opportunity to showcase sustainable stadium technologies and cutting-edge logistics.

“We are confident that the 2034 FIFA World Cup will leave a legacy of inspiration and pride for the Islamic world and beyond, demonstrating the Kingdom’s dedication to fostering peace, inclusivity, and cooperation,” it noted.

It added that Saudi Arabia’s bid was in line with OCI’s objectives of promoting unity, innovation, and shared progress among member states.

The felicitation comes a day after FIFA – the football’s governing body – confirmed Saudi Arabia as the host nation for the 2034 World Cup.

The kingdom has also previously secured hosting rights for the 2034 Asian Games and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

2030 FIFA World Cup

Before the 2034 edition, the 2030 FIFA World Cup will mark the competition’s centennial with a unique format with six South American nations — Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay — hosting the tournament to honour the World Cup’s birthplace.
