Washington: July 19, 2021- (TDI): Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi, who has also led Iran’s negotiating team at the Vienna nuclear talks said in a statement that Iran is currently undergoing a transition period especially after the recent elections, the upcoming round of negotiations in Vienna must wait until a new Iranian government takes charge of its office. The earlier round of the talks was held in June 2020. He has also addressed the US, UK, and allies to understand the entire situation and stop linking it with political aims as this will not achieve anything.
The Vienna talks are held to achieve a political solution to the Iran nuclear deal that started off in 2015 and to achieve an agreement through negotiations between Iran and the United States of America and to put an end to the sanctions as well imposed by the USA. In this regard, a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action JCPOA agreement was signed in 2015 at the Vienna Talks.
