Oslo, 16 September 2021 (TDI): Norwegian State Secretary Lars Andreas Lunde and the British ambassador Richard Wood had signed an agreement on cross-border trade in electricity and cooperation on electricity interconnection on Thursday, September 16.
The agreement contains core principles for electricity trading. It will contribute to a framework for Norway in the United Kingdom cross-border trade electricity. This is after the UK’s exit from the EU and a follow-up of Norway’s free trade agreement with the UK.
The two parties were the Norwegian Ministry and the British Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy. This successful negotiation covers cooperation on developing offshore wind power and related infrastructure in the North Sea. On top of that, the agreement is aligned with the Trade and Cooperation Agreement between the two sides.
