NHA to Launch Helicopter Rescue Service for Motorways

Islamabad, 10 September 2024 (TDI): The National Highways Authority (NHA) on Tuesday plans to launch helicopter rescue services to provide immediate medical assistance to those injured on motorways.

This new service would work in conjunction with the existing 1122 emergency helpline.

The new service will be integrated with the existing 1122 emergency helpline.

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has directed the NHA to implement both short-term and long-term strategies to ensure road safety.

He also urged the highway authority to ensure transparency in the usage of government funds.

The minister asked the authority to submit a five-year action plan on the enhancement of highways and motorways nationwide.

To further improve operations, he tasked the NHA to introduce modern toll collection systems and draft a National Transport Policy.
