Islamabad (TDI): The National Highway Authority (NHA) has seen its revenue double from Rs64 billion to Rs110 billion during the past one year.
Federal Minister for Communications, Privatisation and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan announced this during his visit to the NHA Headquarters on Monday.
The minister inspected the National Traffic Operation Center where he reviewed the traffic monitoring systems. He expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting that 99% of vehicles on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway now use the M-tag facility.

Aleem Khan also ordered that camera surveillance should capture vehicle license plates and sides, with this data being readily accessible to key officials.
He directed the NHA to launch a public awareness campaign over the next two weeks to promote the M-tag system, which he said would save time, reduce theft, and ease traffic congestion.
The minister highlighted the financial improvements, stating that toll revenue had also doubled from Rs32 billion to Rs64 billion.
He proposed that NHA employees should receive bonuses and financial rewards for their exceptional performance.

Earlier in the day, Aleem Khan held a virtual follow-up meeting with Saudi investment officials.
During the meeting, Aleem discussed expanding investment opportunities in Pakistan with Assistant Minister for Investment from Saudi Arabia Ibrahim Al Mubarak discussed expanding investment opportunities in Pakistan.
The follow-up meeting comes after a recent visit by Saudi Minister Shaikh Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Falih.

The minister thanked the Saudi side for the positive feedback and discussed potential joint ventures and Memoranda of Understanding across various sectors. He accepted an invitation to attend an investment expo in Saudi Arabia later in November.
Both countries expressed a commitment to continue these discussions to achieve tangible investment results.
