Glasgow, 1 November 2021 (TDI): New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and her Climate Change Minister, James Shaw announced yesterday that their country will sufficiently contribute to the Global effort to tackle Climate Change.
New Zealand is determined to reduce net greenhouse emissions by 50 percent by 2030, said the Prime Minister. Every country has adopted the international target under the Paris Agreement known as Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).
New Zealand has developed a new NDC which is consistent with recommendations of the independent Climate Change Commission. According to Jacinda Ardern, Newzealand’s contribution represent its fair share in the efforts to tackle Climate Change.
New Zealand is publishing Emissions Reduction Plan to meet its new NDC and the priority will be through reducing emissions in the country. In the latter part, the plan will be extended to reduce emissions around the world.
World leaders have gathered in Glasgow, Scotland, today to discuss policies and efforts to tackle the Climate Change crisis.
