New York, 14 August 2022 (TDI): The City of New York joined Pakistan in celebrating its 75th Independence Day. The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams hoisted the Pakistani flag on Saturday.
The flag was raised for the very first time in New York by the Mayor at Bowling Green, a historic spot in New York City.

Numerous people from Pakistan’s diaspora and officials of the city attended the event. Moreover, the Consul General of Pakistan to New York, Ayesha Ali also attended the event.
Mayor Eric Adams personally raised the Pakistani flag alongside the US flag. The national anthem of both states, Pakistan and the US were also played during this moment.

The Mayor also addressed the Pakistani diaspora at the ceremony. He congratulated Pakistan on celebrating 75 years of independence. Moreover, he wished the nation to continue walking on the path of progress and prosperity.

The America Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) organized the ceremony. President of APAG, Ali Rashid worked hard with the city mayor’s office in this regard.
On the occasion, Ali Rashid thanked the Mayor for making this e historic moment of hoisting the Pakistani flag in New York possible.
Furthermore, he highlighted that Pakistani people fill up the fourth largest ethnic community in New York, Therefore he said that this moment was very special and important for them to see their flag being raised in the City.
APAG is a non-profit organization that seeks to promote Pakistani ethnic identity in America. It promotes Pakistani customs through engagements, educational resources, career opportunities, and personal advancement.
The Consul General of Pakistan, Ayesha Ali also spoke at the event. Additionally, she thanked the Mayor of New York for honoring Pakistan. Besides that, she also expressed that she felt proud on seeing her country’s flag flying in the middle of this city.
Pakistan’s 75th Independence Day
On 14 August 2022, Pakistan celebrated 75 years of its independence. Throughout the country, people celebrate the day with festivities and events. Pakistan’s diaspora and officials from different countries also congratulated Pakistan on the day.
The day commemorates 14 August of 1947 when Pakistan got its independence from the British Colonial Empire. Consequently, the Subcontinent was divided into two parts, one of which was named Pakistan, the land of peace.
