Islamabad, 6 September 2023 (TDI): On the evening of September 5, 2023, Jiang Zaidong, the distinguished diplomat with an extensive career in the Chinese Foreign Ministry, officially assumed his role as the new Ambassador to Pakistan.
Ambassador Jian Zaidong was warmly welcomed by Pakistani officials and representatives of the embassy on his arrival in Islamabad.
Moreover, Pang Chunxue, minister of the Embassy in Pakistan, Bao Zong, counselor, and Mousavi, deputy director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan received a gracious reception, underscoring the significance of his new diplomatic mission.
On behalf of the Pakistani government, Mousavi, the deputy director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan extended a heartfelt welcome to Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.

He highlighted the profound bond by saying that, Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic cooperative partners and “iron” friends, and that friendship with China is a shared consensus among all segments of Pakistani society.
Mousavi also pledged the full support of Pakistan in facilitating Ambassador Jiang’s mission and fostering further advancements in bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
Jiang Zaidong’s Diplomatic Career
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong brings with him a wealth of experience and a remarkable career in diplomacy. Born in February 1970, he joined the Asia Department of the Foreign Ministry in 1992.
His diplomatic journey includes positions as Attaché and Third Secretary of the Embassy in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, followed by roles as Third Secretary, Second Secretary, and First Secretary in the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He also served as First Secretary, Deputy Director, and Director of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2010, Kang Zaidong served as a Counsellor at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and in 2014 as a Counsellor at the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2017, Jiang Zaidong was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 2018 he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong succeeds his predecessor, Nong Rong, who now serves as a member of the Party Committee and assistant minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.
