Hoping for ties with India
The newly elected leader of Nepal Oli is still focusing on their bilateral relations with India.
At the same time, Nepal stays conscious of regional dynamics and places a high emphasis on its historical, cultural, and economic links with India.
Recent challenges, such as India’s blockade in 2015-2016, have tested these ties, but Nepal acknowledges the value of positive collaboration with its southern neighbor.
However, given the lack of an invitation from New Delhi, Oli’s decision to visit China marks a strategic shift in Nepal’s commitment to establishing external relations.
Nepal hopes to benefit from greater economic cooperation with China, but it also recognizes its long-standing cultural, trade, and geopolitical ties with India.
Balancing connections will be crucial as Nepal navigates its unique geopolitical situation, supporting its sovereignty and dedication to regional security.
