Islamabad (TDI): The 2nd Expo on Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR 2025) has commenced with the theme “Pakistan’s Resilience Vision 2030.” The inauguration ceremony was held at NDMA Headquarters on May 6 and the Expo will be live till May 8.
The Expo is a pivotal forum for enhancing disaster preparedness, fostering collaboration, and showcasing innovative solutions to mitigate risks.
The Expo was inaugurated by the Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, Chairman NDMA, Inam Haider Malik, and Acting United Nations Resident Coordinator, Coco Ushiyama.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Minister Malik reaffirmed NDMA’s commitment to disaster preparedness and climate resilience, highlighting Pakistan’s pioneering role in disaster risk management despite being on the frontline of climate vulnerability.
“Pakistan has transformed challenges into opportunities by developing indigenous capacities like NEOC and sharing technical expertise with regional partners, creating goodwill and diplomatic leverage,” he noted.
The Minister also stressed that disaster management in complex environments requires a culturally sensitive, data-driven, and community-inclusive approach. He lauded NDMA’s initiative to establish a national think tank and promote knowledge exchange with global academic institutions.
The opening ceremony was attended by diplomats, parliamentarians, UN representatives, humanitarian partners, academics, and private sector leaders.
