Makkah, 22 May 2023 (TDI): The Muslim World League, an international NGO headquartered in Makkah, has issued a statement expressing its satisfaction with the recent signing of a significant agreement.

This agreement pertains to a short-term ceasefire and the establishment of humanitarian arrangements between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, and it was sealed in Jeddah.

The commendable development was jointly announced by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America. Both parties have agreed to facilitate the delivery and distribution of much-needed humanitarian assistance, restore essential services, and withdraw military forces from vital public facilities such as hospitals.

Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, the Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, lauded the progress made in the negotiations between the two factions. What sets this ceasefire apart from previous ones is the endorsement and backing it will receive from the U.S.-Saudi and internationally-supported mechanism for monitoring ceasefires.
