Washington (TDI): Elon Musk reignited his opposition to President Donald Trump’s sweeping tax and spending bill over the weekend, sharply criticizing lawmakers who supported the legislation despite campaigning on fiscal restraint, and calling for the formation of a new political party.
In a series of posts on X, Musk labeled the bill “utterly insane and destructive,” criticizing what he described as a massive increase in national debt and a betrayal of promises made by elected officials.
“Every member of Congress who ran on cutting spending and then backed the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame,” Musk wrote on Monday. “And they will lose their primaries next year, if it’s the last thing I do on this Earth.”
The Tesla and SpaceX chief didn’t stop there. He revived his call for a new political movement, slamming both major parties as indistinguishable in their appetite for government spending. “We live in a one-party country, the PORKY PIG PARTY!! Time for a new political party that actually cares about the people,” he wrote.

Musk’s fresh salvo marks a dramatic escalation in his public break with Trump, following months of tension over the controversial bill. Once a key backer of the Trump administration, pouring nearly $300 million into his re-election campaign and spearheading the administration’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) project, Musk now appears ready to turn on former allies.
The billionaire entrepreneur argues the bill undercuts much of the cost savings and budget trimming he claims to have accomplished through DOGE. His vocal opposition has already rattled some Republicans, who worry the feud could complicate their efforts to retain control of Congress in next year’s midterm elections.

Musk’s influence remains uncertain, but his comments come at a sensitive moment, as Republicans in the Senate try to push through the bill in the face of internal resistance over its estimated $3.3 trillion impact on the federal debt.
