Mother’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8 in Tajikistan, is one of the most meaningful and significant holidays of Tajik society. This day is not only a symbol of respect for mothers, but also a sign of appreciation by the state and society for women. During the years of independence, the status and dignity of women in Tajikistan have significantly increased, and favorable conditions have been created for their active participation in the political, economic, and social life of the country.

Historical experience in the development of human society shows that sustainable progress is impossible without the active participation of women. In Tajikistan as well, after gaining State Independence, women and girls have become an important social and cultural force within society. Today, alongside men, they make a significant contribution to the development of the state, the strengthening of statehood, and the progress of society.

In this regard, the wise and forward-looking policy of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, plays a key role. From the very first days of independence, the Head of State identified raising the status of women as one of the important directions of state policy. Continuous attention to strengthening women’s rights and opportunities, as well as their involvement in public administration, has become one of the essential components of the country’s social policy.

On the initiative of the state leadership, a number of important programs and legal documents aimed at supporting women have been adopted and implemented. In particular, the Presidential Decree “On Measures to Enhance the Role of Women in Society” and the National Strategy for Enhancing the Role of Women in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2030 are directed at strengthening the social and economic position of women. These documents create favorable conditions for women’s participation in public administration, the development of entrepreneurship, and the improvement of their legal awareness.

As President Emomali Rahmon has emphasized: “In all historical achievements and initiatives, the contribution of women and mothers, whose wisdom reflects the rich spiritual heritage of our ancient nation, is immensely significant.”

These words once again demonstrate that the role of women in the development of the state and society is extremely important. Today, Tajik women actively participate in all spheres of public life, making a significant contribution to the development of the economy, education, science, culture, healthcare, and other important sectors of the state.

According to statistical data, women constitute nearly half of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan. In the fields of education, healthcare, and culture, women represent the majority of employees. Moreover, the number of women in leadership positions and government institutions continues to grow each year. This trend demonstrates the positive results of state policy aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for women and men.

Today, Tajik women are recognized not only as mothers and educators of the younger generation but also as politicians, scholars, entrepreneurs, and successful leaders. They make a valuable contribution to the country’s economic and social development and actively participate in the implementation of the nation’s strategic goals.

At the same time, women play a vital role in preserving and developing national culture. A woman—especially a mother—is the guardian of traditions, customs, and cultural values, passing them on to future generations through family upbringing. Therefore, mothers hold a high and honorable place as a source of love, compassion, and moral education within society.

Mother’s Day in Tajikistan symbolizes respect for women and mothers, appreciation for their hard work, and recognition of their immense contribution to the development of the country. This holiday encourages society to show greater respect for women and to continue supporting their participation in public life.

In conclusion, it can be stated that during the years of independence the status of women in Tajik society has significantly increased. Tajik women and mothers represent a powerful social force contributing to the strengthening of statehood, economic development, and the progress of society. With full confidence, it can be said that Tajik women will continue to play an important role in the prosperity of the country, the strengthening of peace and stability, and the development of independent Tajikistan. Mother’s Day provides a meaningful opportunity to express sincere respect and gratitude to this great force of society-our honored mothers and women.
