Doha, 10 December 2022 (TDI): The Atlas Lions of Morocco beat Portugal’s national team to qualify for the Semi-final stage of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar for the first time and as the first African country to reach the semi-final in FIFA World.
Morocco has qualified for FIFA World Cup several times but have not been able to really go far. But their performance in this year’s games has been a great one.
The aim to proceed to the next stage in the FIFA world cup will determine the performance in the next stages and Morocco has made the whole African continent proud.
Portugal is one of the greatest countries to pick the FIFA world cup countless times. Their performance and quality of players have been feared and respected by many.
This has occasioned the joy and hopes the people of Morocco brought on to the country. Having started on a high note, both teams played at their best.
Surprising for the Portugal players, Morocco’s score took the lead. Youssef En-Nesyri scored for the Morocco team giving them the chance to proceed to the next stage.
The hope of the Atlas of Morocco became alive after the extra time elapsed with them leading their opponents by one goal to nil.
They have made the country and the people of Africa proud by being the only African team to make it this far in this year’s tournament.
