Singapore, 11 April 2023 (TDI): Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) Spokesperson in a recent Press briefing of April 10th, responds to media queries on the recent attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Singapore is profoundly worried by the recent uptick in violence in Israel and the Palestinian Territories.

Singapore MOFA strongly condemn the rocket assaults on Israel, as well as other attacks on Tel Aviv and the Jordan Valley that resulted in civilian fatalities.

The Ministry express their heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and wish those injured a speedy recovery.

To avoid more casualties, they encourage all sides to exhibit the greatest caution and de-escalate tensions.

To allow people to worship securely and peacefully, all parties must preserve the sacredness of religious places such as the Al Aqsa Mosque, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

There have been no reports of Singaporeans being affected by the assaults as of yet. Singaporeans in Israel should be on high alert and regularly watch the news.

They should heed local authorities’ recommendations and take the appropriate procedures to ensure their safety.

The situation in Israel and Palestine is complex and multifaceted, with deep-rooted historical and political factors at play.

The ongoing conflict between the two sides has resulted in numerous rounds of violence and bloodshed, causing immense suffering for both Palestinians and Israelis.

At the heart of the conflict is the issue of land and sovereignty, with both sides laying claim to the same territory.

The Israeli government maintains control over the West Bank and Gaza Strip, despite objections from the international community and Palestinian authorities.

This has led to ongoing disputes over settlement construction, access to resources, and the rights of Palestinian residents.

The international community has repeatedly called for an end to the violence and a peaceful resolution to the conflict that respects the rights and aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians.

Singapore is hoping that both sides will continue to engage in meaningful dialogue and take concrete steps toward a lasting and peaceful resolution of the conflict that upholds the rights and dignity of both Israelis and Palestinians.
