Modi Stoking Regional Tensions for Political Gains: Pakistan

Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has strongly rejected the “baseless, provocative, and irresponsible” allegations made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a recent public address in Rajasthan, asserting that such remarks clearly aimed at stoking regional tensions for narrow political gains.

“The statement, replete with distortions, misrepresentations, and inflammatory rhetoric, are clearly aimed at stoking regional tensions for narrow political gains. Such remarks not only reflect a deliberate attempt to mislead the public but also violate the norms of responsible statecraft,” Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement on Friday.

He said that resorting to threats and boasting about military action against a sovereign state was a serious breach of the United Nations (UN) Charter and established principles of international law and that this dangerous approach also undermined regional peace and stability.

He stated that Pakistan remains a committed and reliable partner in the global fight against terrorism, and any attempt to link the country to terrorist activities is both factually inaccurate and deliberately misleading.

“It is a tactic the Modi regime often employs to divert attention from India’s own domestic challenges, as well as its repressive policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). New Delhi’s attempts to cover its grave human rights violations are well-known to the global community. The dilemma of Kashmiris and their just struggle for self-determination cannot be obscured by provocative statements and political deflection,” he said.

The spokesperson urged the Indian government to exercise responsibility and restraint as provocative statements and belligerent posturing serve no purpose other than escalating tensions.

He added that instead of resorting to false narratives and jingoism for electoral purposes, India should act with maturity and resolve major conflicts through negotiations and diplomacy.

He reiterated Islamabad’s unwavering commitment to peaceful coexistence, regional stability, and constructive engagement.
