Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, held a meeting with the Senior Advisor of UN-Habitat, Jawed Ali Khan, to discuss matters related to sustainable urban development.
The discussion focused on the pressing challenges of urbanization and the need for innovative, climate-resilient, and inclusive urban planning. Both sides underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure environmentally responsible urban growth across Pakistan.
It was mutually agreed to develop a comprehensive National Urban Development Strategy to provide a unified framework for sustainable urban transformation at the national level.
Earlier, on Tuesday, Pakistan and Nepal reaffirmed their commitment to regional climate collaboration during a meeting between Dr. Malik and Nepalese Ambassador in Islamabad, Rita Dhital.
The meeting focused on regional peace and environmental cooperation, with Ambassador Rita Dhital inviting Dr. Malik to attend the inaugural regional Climate Dialogue Forum in Nepal.

The event, which will bring together climate ministers from across South Asia and beyond, will be concluded with a non-binding declaration on climate action.
The envoy lauded Pakistan’s leadership in climate advocacy on international level and its efforts for environmental protection.
Both sides agreed that climate change is one of the most dangerous international challenges and emphasized the need for enhanced regional collaboration to tackle its impacts.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides vowing to continue working jointly on environmental and regional problems through diplomatic channels.
