Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan’s Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Musadik Malik, met with Alexis Roig, Chief Executive Officer of SciTech DiploHub, to discuss strengthening the integration of science diplomacy in climate action.

Dr. Musadik Malik appreciated Alexis Roig and SciTech DiploHub for their pioneering work in effectively bridging diplomacy and science.

He emphasized that such integration is an urgent global requirement and is particularly critical for Pakistan, given the significant economic and social burdens imposed by climate change.

The discussions focused on leveraging Pakistan’s local knowledge and research resources, while underscoring the importance of science-based and evidence-driven policymaking.

The development of structured training and fellowship programs, including models to place scientists within government ministries, was also explored to enhance policy formulation and implementation. It was mutually agreed to jointly develop a detailed roadmap within one week, outlining future areas of collaboration.

The proposed roadmap will focus on mobilizing the AGC and approximately 100 PhD-level climate scientists, raising climate financing, and establishing sustainable scientific advisory frameworks.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Global Change Impact Studies Centre (GCISC), leading universities, national research centers, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
