Tashkent (TDI): President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation, during which they agreed to broaden their strategic partnership and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
President Trump opened the call by praising the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in recent years, noting their role in modernizing the economy and raising living standards. President Mirziyoyev, in turn, congratulated the US leader on the achievements of his administration both domestically and internationally, and highlighted America’s contribution to conflict resolution and global security.
The two leaders reviewed opportunities to expand economic ties, including the promotion of joint business initiatives and efforts to boost trade volumes.
Last year, bilateral trade rose by 15 percent, and the current portfolio of projects under discussion covers areas such as aviation, mining of critical minerals, energy, electrical engineering, agriculture, finance, digital technology, innovation, and education. Several meetings between Uzbek officials and leading American companies are planned for later this month.

Security cooperation was also on the agenda, particularly in combating terrorism, extremism, and illegal migration. Cultural and educational links continue to grow as well, with branches of prominent US universities successfully operating in Tashkent.
During the call, President Trump also wished Uzbekistan’s national football team success in its first-ever participation in the FIFA World Cup, to be held in the United States next year.

The two sides exchanged views on international and regional matters, including the “C5+1” format for Central Asia–US dialogue. President Mirziyoyev extended an invitation to President Trump to visit Uzbekistan at a mutually convenient time.
Both leaders agreed to maintain regular high-level contact to ensure progress on shared projects. According to official reports, the conversation was held in a constructive and friendly spirit.
