Beijing (TDI): Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, is currently in Beijing to represent the country at the Ministerial Meeting of the Global Civilizations Dialogue, a major international event that began on Wednesday.
The two-day forum, being held under the theme “Safeguarding Diversity of Human Civilizations for World Peace and Development,” has drawn participation from over 600 delegates from around 140 countries and regions, including high-level ministers, cultural leaders, academics, and representatives of international organizations.
Minister Tarar’s visit reflects Pakistan’s strong support for global efforts to promote intercultural dialogue, respect for civilizational diversity, and people-to-people cooperation.
During the forum, the minister is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the sub-forum titled “Civilization Exchange and Mutual Learning: Cultural Heritage and Innovation,” where he will outline Pakistan’s approach to cultural preservation, media cooperation, and regional dialogue.
Speaking ahead of his address, Minister Tarar said that dialogue among civilizations is a cornerstone of peaceful coexistence and that Pakistan views cultural exchange not only as a diplomatic asset but also as a vital component of global stability. He emphasized that platforms like the Beijing dialogue are essential for reinforcing shared human values and countering divisive narratives.

On the sidelines of the conference, Minister Tarar is also scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with Cao Shumin, Deputy Head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration of China.
The meeting will focus on expanding media cooperation between Pakistan and China, including possible content partnerships, institutional linkages, and capacity-building initiatives. Discussions are also expected to explore avenues for deeper cultural exchange, especially in broadcasting, youth engagement, and documentary collaborations.
Minister Tarar’s participation in the Beijing forum comes at a time when Pakistan and China continue to deepen their bilateral relations across multiple domains under the framework of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The cultural and media dimension of the relationship has gained momentum in recent years, with both sides increasingly emphasizing the importance of narratives that reflect shared histories and people-centered development.
The Global Civilizations Dialogue, part of President Xi Jinping’s Global Civilization Initiative, is being jointly organized by the Publicity and International Departments of the CPC Central Committee and the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative seeks to foster respect for cultural diversity and promote dialogue as a means to address global challenges.
Minister Tarar’s engagement at the forum is expected to highlight Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, cultural diplomacy, and inclusive development.
As the conference enters its second day, Pakistani officials say the minister’s message will reinforce Islamabad’s role as a proponent of dialogue, understanding, and peaceful international cooperation.
