Ramallah, 7 October 2023 (TDI): In a significant and alarming development, Hamas launched a large-scale attack on Israel early Saturday, marking one of the most substantial escalations in the conflict between the two sides in decades.
The attack encompassed a series of coordinated actions, with Hamas infiltrating multiple points, unleashing a barrage of missiles into Israel. Purportedly, this onslaught resulted in the loss of at least 40 lives.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, addressing the nation via televised broadcast, unequivocally declared that the situation had escalated to a state of war.

During an emergency meeting in Ramallah, Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas asserted the Palestinian people’s right to defend themselves against the “terror of settlers and occupation troops.
Whereas, in response to the intensifying violence, the Saudi Foreign Ministry issued a statement, urgently calling for an “immediate halt to the escalation” between Israel and the Palestinian factions.
Saudi Arabia’s concern over the escalating violence is evident in its monitoring of the situation, highlighting the need for an immediate de-escalation.
Meanwhile, the Qatari government placed blame squarely on Israel for the ongoing violence while simultaneously urging both sides to cease their attacks.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs attributed the escalation to Israel’s repeated violations of the rights of the Palestinian people, citing the recent raids on the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque, which occurred under the protection of Israeli police.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) also voiced its profound concern regarding the surge in violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE underscored the critical importance of halting the escalation and preserving the lives of innocent civilians affected by the conflict.
The UAE extended its heartfelt condolences to all victims of the recent crisis. As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the UAE took the opportunity to call upon the international community to take immediate action.
The UAE urged the reactivation of the international Quartet to revitalize the Arab-Israeli peace process. Additionally, the UAE emphasized the necessity of redoubling efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The ultimate goal is to prevent further violence, tension, and instability from engulfing the already embattled region.
