Islamabad, 25 January 2022 (TDI): Michael Owen, the former England Player and a Football legend called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) today.
In a meeting between the two, the development of football in Pakistan was discussed. Later, Michael Owen had a press conference as well.
Chief of Army Staff acknowledged the efforts of Michael Owen
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, expressed his appreciation for Michael Owen’s visit to Pakistan. He lauded the sincere efforts that are being made by the football legend for the promotion and development of sports.
While appreciating, the Chief of Army Staff especially mentioned that the promotion of the development of football infrastructure in Pakistan is truly commendable. Additionally, Pakistan welcomed the preparation of young talent for sports, this step will come along the step mentioned previously.
Furthermore, General Qamar Javed Bajwa stated that through sports peace can be promoted. Sports is a way of peacefully presenting a nation at a global level. Michael Owen also addressed the press at the federal capital, Islamabad.
Michael Owen made Ambassador of Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive
The Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Youth Affairs, Usman Dar met the football legend. In the meeting, Usman Dar graced him with the medal of Kamyab Jawan as an honor. Furthermore, SAPM congratulated him on becoming the Ambassador of the Kamyab Jawan Sports Drive.

Not only that but Usman Dar also mentioned that through these initiatives they hope and are committed to fulfilling the dreams of the youth. Further, in this regard, an announcement was made that Lahore football trials are starting under the banner of the Kamyab Jawan talent hunt. The dates have been announced. The trials will be held on 26 and 27 January 2022.
Michael Owen earlier took to Twitter to announce his visit to Pakistan
On 23 January 2022, a statement appeared on Michael Owen’s official Twitter account. The statement was about his plan to visit Pakistan soon. In a video message, he said he was excited to play his role and take on the responsibility of revamping soccer in Pakistan.
