Mental health is UNICEF’s priority

Quetta: 6th July 2021 (TDI) UNICEF Pakistan acknowledged that the covid-19 pandemic took a toll on everyone’s mental health and made efforts to help people deal with it.

The United Kingdom funded this project so that UNICEF could help vulnerable women and children in getting mental health support especially in the province of Balochistan.

A young girl named Kulsoom who was living with her father, stepmother, and stepsister found it extremely hard to deal with them during the pandemic because staying at home and managing studies along with home chores became very difficult for her.

During this time her father sought help from a UNICEF-supported project which helped them in meeting a psychologist called Sadia Ishfaq who is quite experienced in her field. She did drawing therapies with Kulsoom since she liked to express herself through art and did many sessions at their home. Sadia talked to the entire family and now their issues have been resolved and Kulsoom finds it easy to focus on her studies.
