-

Kabul, 09 August 2021 (TDI): A special meeting was held by Norway Special Representative to the UN Security Council regarding the situation in Afghanistan. He expressed his condolences for the killings of Afghan people. He is deeply concerned about the violations, atrocities, killings, and mass displacement of people in Afghanistan. He stated that these demolishing incidents are the result of the Taliban’s military offensive against capital and provincial capitals as these attacks are completely unacceptable by the international community.

He further stated that the Taliban’s military offensive must stop as the atrocities done by the Taliban constitute war crimes. Those who are involved in human rights abuses and other war crimes must be held accountable and innocents should be brought justice. He added that the Taliban should be given effective pressure and also the extended Troika may be significant for peaceful resolution and political settlement.
