Islamabad (TDI): Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has lauded Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in helping ease tensions between Iran and Israel, as the two regional rivals agreed to a ceasefire after nearly two weeks of hostilities.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation with the Saudi leader to discuss the evolving situation in the Middle East.
During the call, Prime Minister Sharif expressed Pakistan’s strong support for immediate de-escalation and stressed the need for a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
He underscored the importance of international law and the UN Charter in resolving conflicts, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia.

The prime minister also praised the crown prince for what he described as “wise leadership and determined efforts” to restore calm. He said these steps reflected not only Riyadh’s global standing but also its leading role in the Muslim world.
In a show of broader regional solidarity, Prime Minister Sharif also reiterated Islamabad’s appreciation for Saudi Arabia’s support during Pakistan’s previous standoffs with India.
He said Pakistan remains open to meaningful engagement with New Delhi on all outstanding matters, including Kashmir, water issues, trade, and regional security.

The crown prince, in response, thanked Prime Minister Sharif for his gesture and acknowledged Pakistan’s role in pushing for diplomacy. He reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to long-term peace and regional stability.
In a separate statement, Pakistan’s Foreign Office welcomed the diplomatic breakthrough and called for sustained dialogue. “Regional peace depends on adherence to the UN Charter and a firm rejection of the use of force,” the statement said, adding that Pakistan would continue to support initiatives that promote peace.
The ceasefire was brokered by US President Donald Trump following direct talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the same time, Vice President JD Vance and other senior American officials were reportedly engaged in parallel discussions with Iranian representatives.
