Lahore (TDI): Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has welcomed participants of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, expressing confidence that the meeting will pave the way for new avenues of mutual cooperation.
“The goals of poverty alleviation and economic development will be achieved through mutual cooperation,” she stated.
Maryam Nawaz described the SCO conference as a potential “game changer” for Pakistan and warmly welcomed the arrival of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on behalf of the Punjab government and its citizens.
She characterized the visit of the Chinese prime minister as the beginning of a new chapter in mutual friendship, asserting that the relations between China and Pakistan are vital for global peace, prosperity, and regional development.

Highlighting the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the Chief Minister remarked that its launch during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government is a testament to the enduring friendship between the two nations.
“With the arrival of the Chinese prime minister, CPEC projects will accelerate, creating hundreds of thousands of job opportunities,” she added.
