Valletta (TDI): Maltese Prime Minister Robert Abela announced on Sunday that Malta will formally recognize the State of Palestine next month.
The announcement came during a political event in which Abela highlighted local and global matters, with a special focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Abele, referring to Israel’s relentless bombardment of Gaza that has claimed over 54,000 lives, mostly women and children, stated, “We cannot close our eyes to this human tragedy that is worsening day by day.”
Abela stated the move is a moral responsibility and that Palestine will be recognized after a conference on June 20.
