Maldives’ Minister in Pakistan for Girls’ Education Conference

Islamabad (TDI): Maldives’ Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, has arrived in Islamabad to attend the “International Conference on Girls’ Education in Muslim Communities: Challenges and Opportunities.”

The conference brings together policymakers, scholars and activists from across the Muslim world to discuss strategies for improving access to education for girls and addressing cultural and structural barriers.

The event organized by Pakistan’s Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training with international partners on January 11-12, aims to highlight success stories and identify actionable solutions to promote gender equality in education.

High-profile speakers, including education experts and religious leaders are expected to share insights on how to align educational reforms with cultural and religious values.

Minister Saeed emphasized the importance of collaboration among Muslim countries in achieving educational equity.

“Education is not only a right but a means to empower communities,” he stated upon arrival, expressing optimism about the outcomes of the conference.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the conference, delivering the keynote address at the opening session and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to promoting girls’ education and gender equity.

The event will bring together more than 150 foreign dignitaries, including ministers, ambassadors, scholars and academia from 44 Muslim and friendly nations, representatives from global organizations including UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank.

Speakers will share transformative success stories, showcasing innovative approaches to promoting education equity.

The event will conclude with a formal signing of the Islamabad Declaration, outlining the Muslim community’s collective commitment to empowering girls through education, paving way for sustainable and inclusive educational reforms, and a brighter future for generations to come.
