Malaysian Prime Minister Concludes Pakistan Visit

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim has completed his three-day visit to Pakistan and returned to Malaysia.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani saw him off at Noor Khan Airbase.

“Pakistan and Malaysia enjoy a longstanding, brotherly relationship,” PM Shehbaz said.

During the visit, both leaders agreed to further strengthen ties between the two nations. “We are committed to enhancing relations with Malaysia,” Sharif stated.

The Malaysian premier expressed admiration for Allama Iqbal, which Shehbaz Sharif said is “a source of pride for Pakistan.”

Shehbaz Sharif also thanked Anwar Ibrahim for his kind words and well wishes for Pakistan.

The two dignitaries also chaired meetings of the Pakistan-Malaysia Business Forum.

The prime minister said that at the Pakistan-Malaysia Business Forum, discussions focused on boosting trade between the two countries. “Positive progress was made in promoting trade,” he added.

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding were signed to promote trade and investment.

He emphasised that increased trade with Malaysia will “boost Pakistan’s exports and create new job opportunities.”

Both countries agreed to simplify procedures for exporting processed meat and rice from Pakistan to Malaysia. There was also an agreement on cooperation in information technology and electric vehicle production.

The prime minister stated that the Malaysian premier’s visit marked a new chapter in Pakistan-Malaysia relations.

During his visit, Anwar Ibrahim met with PM Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House. The Malaysian leader was given a grand reception.

Anwar Ibrahim was awarded the prestigious Nishan-e-Pakistan by the President of Pakistan.
